Abstract

Berlin, Germany-based AI startup N8n announced on October 9, 2025 (Thursday, U.S. Eastern Time) that it has completed a $180 million Series C funding round, bringing the company's valuation to $2.5 billion. This round was led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Accel, with participation from NVentures, Nvidia's venture capital arm. This comes just seven months after the company's $60 million Series B round in March, which valued it at $350 million.

N8n is a workflow automation platform provider that helps enterprises deploy AI agents to automate repetitive computational tasks. The company was founded in 2019 by software developer Jan Oberhauser. N8n operates under a "fair-code" licensing model, combining open-source principles with commercial viability.

Following this funding round, N8n's valuation surged from $350 million in March to $2.5 billion, an increase of over sevenfold in seven months. Bloomberg previously reported fierce competition among multiple venture capital firms to lead this round. According to reports, Insight Partners had offered a valuation of nearly $3 billion in August, but Accel ultimately secured the lead investor position.

In addition to Accel and NVentures, participating investors include Meritech, Redpoint, Evantic Capital, Visionaries Club, and Deutsche Telekom's T.Capital. Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Highland Europe, HV Capital, and Felicis Ventures also followed on. After this round, N8n's cumulative funding total reached $240 million.

As of March 2025, N8n boasts over 230,000 active users and an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) exceeding $40 million. The company currently serves over 3,000 enterprise clients, including prominent names like Vodafone, SoftBank, and SEAT. N8n is supported by over 700,000 active developers and builders who help construct integrations, develop content templates, and create how-to guides.

N8n CEO Jan Oberhauser told Bloomberg that the company's technology has helped clients like Vodafone achieve significant cost reductions. He stated, "We're seeing billions of dollars being poured into AI investments by enterprises, but many organizations aren't seeing meaningful results. We're saving users millions of dollars." Oberhauser revealed that the company's revenue has grown tenfold over the past year but declined to disclose specific figures.

N8n's distinctive feature is its flexible, node-based workflow builder, which supports complex automation processes while maintaining ease of use. Unlike competitors such as Zapier and Make, N8n offers an open-source option, allowing users to self-host and build deeply customized workflows. Its pricing model is based on the number of workflow executions rather than individual tasks, contrasting with Zapier's task-based model, where costs can quickly accumulate in complex automation scenarios.

Lead investor Accel stated, "Today, over 80% of workflows built on N8n embed AI agents. N8n dramatically expands the scope of what can be automated. Teams can fully customize workflows, mixing AI agents with deterministic steps and team input where needed."

A key differentiating feature of N8n is its ability to connect AI models from different providers. The platform's AI capabilities, driven by large language models and AI agents, now allow users to build workflows using natural language input, significantly lowering the barrier to automation adoption.

Regarding the use of funds, N8n stated it would accelerate its product roadmap: expanding integration coverage, empowering ecosystem building and global shared nodes, and evolving N8n from a canvas interface to new interfaces that match different team workflows. The company will focus on expanding engineering capabilities and recruitment. N8n also plans to deepen its AI capabilities, expand its enterprise SaaS offerings, and further grow in the U.S. market, which currently accounts for approximately half of its users.

According to PitchBook data, funding for European AI startups in 2025 is nearing record levels, with investments reaching €17.7 billion. Year-to-date, AI companies have raised $192.7 billion in venture capital, accounting for over half of the total global funding. However, critics warn of a potential bubble, as the industry has seen little profitability so far.
